2nd Annual Taming TechnoStress: Staying Healthy in the Tech Workplace.
We at DigitalEve Philly celebrated our 1-year anniversary with a repeat
performance of last year's kick-off event. Last year, the purpose behind
Taming TechnoStress was to preserve our physical and psychological selves
in the wake of a booming tech economy. This year, the same safeguards
are needed to protect us during the recent tech shake up. Fewer people
are doing more work to make up for those of us lost to lay-offs. The demands
of a massive workload and the pressure associated with unemployment both
lead to an incredible amount of TechnoStress. One of the most effective
and easiest ways to combat this condition is to be active outdoors. Our
fearless leader and former fitness professional, Anne Cecil, put the participants
through their paces during a 45-minute lunch time walk, supplemented with
various exercises that used the available "equipment" provided by Philadelphia's
city infrastructure. The only requirement was to wear comfortable clothing
and a good pair of walking shoes. The program was free and sponsored by
SmartLynx.
